Guest guest
Hi there everyone! I've been having a problem with my knee for about 2 months now. First I just ticked it off to Arthur and tried to ignore it but it's getting worse and worse. My knee is absolutely fine most of the time - I can run, walk etc - then I'll get a wierd feeling like something in front has moved out of place and if I try and take a step it feels like my knee cap has broken - a really stop in your tracks screaming pain. This happens at least 10 times a day. I also have an intense pain at the back of my knee sometimes but it goes away and then I'll feel perfect. My big worry is that sometimes it happens when I'm carrying Fabien and I'm scared I'll drop from the pain with him in my arms one day! Has anyone had anything similar and found out what caused it? My Rheumy is away and I can only see her at the end of April - just wanted to check if anyone else has had a similar problem. Hugs, Heidi
Guest guest
Debbie, go for the shot. I was leery, too, but my pain overcame my fear. It brought great relief for me. The thought of somebody sticking a needle into my knee was not a pleasant thought, but they do something to deaden it. Guest guest
Debbie, why are you leery of the injection? if your knee pain involves any inflammation, you will be amazed at the relief you get from a cortisone injection - and without a lot of side effects (compared to prednisone, anyway). I've had injections in my left knee, my hip, both shoulders, my elbow, my thumb . . . they're not fun, but the knee is nothing really, the elbow and the thumb were way worse. For me, an injection lasts for at least 6 weeks. I was also told to take it easy the first day or so after the injection, because it feels so much better you can actually overdo it and damage the joint further. Have you had an MRI? I had similar pain in my knee, and the not being able to bend it turned out to be a tear in the meniscus, made way worse by inflammation. I've been looking into arthoscopic surgery, but apparently I have a complex tear that is too big to repair. The ortho recommended a knee brace and injections every now and then (but never more than one every three months!) until the knee gets bad enough to warrant a knee replacement. Guest guest
> Hello. Debbie, I have the same prob. with my knee RT, and I had a shot and some fluid taken off and that has made a world of differance in the pain Not it is not all gone but I would say about 75% better go for the shot..
