Guest guest
Hi Marina, Not sure that this will make you feel reassured : You are not the only one in this situation. It was a very good month for .... cleaning/ fixing / painting the house. Tomorrow is another day, at least, let's hope so. > > Well, I'm having the worst working month since I don't even remember when... > Let's hope it's only a coincidence. > > Have a nice day, > > Marina > > Dear Listmates, > > I am sure that most of you will be interested in the results of the > survey conducted by Pharma IQ in 2011. > > You can dowload the Report here : > http://www.pharma-iq.com/market-access/white-papers/the-big-pharma-recession-rep\ ort/ > > The subscription is free. > > And don't forget: optimism is a must !;-) > > Have a nice day > - moderator > > > > >

However, without gettiing into details, I think it would be good for us all to remember that all types of economic activity can be affected by the larger economic situation, and the larger economic situation in both Europe and the United States is precarious. As I have long been worried about the world economy, I have been trying for over a year to think of some other small business I could start that (in my case) could be largely handled by my family so that I could continue concentrating on translating. So far I haven't had an idea cheap enough for my limited funds, or the funds for my likeliest ideas, but I don't think it is out of place for any of us, even if not currently having shortfalls, to think of finding some alternate source of income. In choosing a 'side-line', I would think it advisable to concentrate on very basic goods or services, the kind of thing that people will want even when nearly everyone is counting pennies. Where I am that would ideally mean farmland (and indeed, I have read that many professional investors are acquiring farmland), but it could be something much less rural. Interestingly, the second best general idea is to find something one can market to the very rich, because there will also always be some of those. Forgive my long post that is a bit off topic. I am worried enough about the situation that I am worried about us individually. Guest guest
Hello and everyone, I too, haven't had much pharma-related this month, but have been working on other translations. But a sideline is a good idea. Since the cost of food is going up so rapidly, at least here in Britain, for the past couple of years we have had an allotment, in effect a large kitchen garden up the road. We have been growing potatoes, leeks, spinach, beans ... they taste much better than the ones you buy in the supermarket or even the greengrocer (our corner shop sells a limited range), are much cheaper even with all the associated costs, and get me into the fresh air for healthy exercise, which I am sure many of us are lacking. I try to put in at least an hour every other day, much more in summer, and of course other family members do also. > I haven't had much pharma-related this month either, but I hadn't > noticed because I have a backlog of other translations to get done. > However, without gettiing into details, I think it would be good for us > all to remember that all types of economic activity can be affected by > the larger economic situation, and the larger economic situation in both > Europe and the United States is precarious. > > As I have long been worried about the world economy, I have been trying > for over a year to think of some other small business I could start that > (in my case) could be largely handled by my family so that I could > continue concentrating on translating.
