Guest guest
Is a transfer to an inpatient hospice an option? What you are suggesting may happen would challenge a well trained hospice staff in a a facility stocked with endless supplies. I went through it with Ardis, but it wasn't exactly a bleed out, and it was from the other end,, but none the less, there is just no way to describe to any one how difficult it was, not only for me but for the entire night shift of August 1st 2006, Collier hospice center, Wheatridge Colorado. That's three nurses and two certified nursing assistants. When the CNA's became exasperated, I could see panic set in. Then I began to panic. You finally got hospice involved, please consider this other option. in the case that you do keep him home, the hospice should send you someone to be with you through the end once it begins. But I pray you get him transferred. God be with you dear lady. The news wasn't good. I was told they thought he probably won't make it through the weekend. That I need to get the kids somewhere else because, it was going to be nasty. I was told to get a lot of dark colored towels. He is a high risk for a bleed out. I don't even know how to react. It's kind of like a bad dream. Or a cruel joke. I didn't ever expect it to end this way for him. I don't really know what I expected. I don't even have a clue where to send my kids. How to get them there, he can't be left alone. I can't leave any one else with him. I can't ask someone to sit with him with that being how they expect him to go. He asked me what the nurses and I were talkin about. I didn't want to tell him. I tried to avoid answering by telling him other things. It didn't work. I had to tell him. He just got this strangest look on his face. He said " no, I don't think so. I've got more than a week or two " . I don't have any idea what to do.
