Dear Rob,

Oh yes, I perfectly understand your concern ! And I want to thank you

for enlightening us about what can easily be called a copyright.

I am not surprised that somebody " stole " your work and exploited it on

the Net , unfortunately.

I appreciate your offer to share this impressive list with our

listmates, provided they contribute to its development/improvement.

I'm sure that all our listmates firmly believe, as I do, that this no

more than justice and fairness.

Thanks again for your message.

Have a great day

Hi , I posted the PDF in my medical group and – just to be clear, I

didn’t steal it – I’m a member of MedNet, acquired the document legitimately

and posted it to a private group in error (on a day when I posted numerous

old articles from an old blog, and uploaded numerous files – I just didn’t

think when I uploaded it). Rob’s a friend of mine and I took the document

down immediately when Rob asked me, so hopefully this will limit any damage

caused. Apologies for any confusion caused to group members, and I’ve

already apologised to Rob more than once.

OK, Andy, I understand the problem now. It was only done inadvertently.

So, I'm happy that everything is clear and fixed now.

Thanks a lot for your explanations and your fair message.

Have a nice day.

Thanks Rob. For the record, somewhere in a dark, rural part of Western

Australia I'm acutely - creeping into chronically, embarrassed about the

hassle this has caused you, and my lack of care. Won't happen again.

Regards

Dear , Andy and everyone else

I just wanted to make it clear that I have no problem at all with Andy - as

he says, he is a friend of mine and oddly enough grew up in the next small

village to my own in Shropshire. It was a legitimate mistake and the

misunderstanding is largely my own fault as I do not have a statement on

the front page of the list making clear its limited distribution. My

problem is more with a national translators' association which has simply

taken an old version of the list - where they got it from I do not know -

and posted it on their own website without acknowledgement.

Several people have now written to me asking for a copy, and I will be

sending them the pdf at the weekend, after I've gone through the list

again, as I periodically do, making additions and looking for errors.

I can't really claim any 'copyright' on abbreviations, but as I said

previously, I would like to keep some kind of control, in the interests of

improving the breadth and quality of the list.

Sorry for the delayed reply - I only get the Digest.

Rob
