Guest guest
Hi there Just wondered if anyone could offer any advise? My dad has been a heavy drinker for more than 20 years resulting in Liver Cirrhosis/ Liver Failure. He has refused medical care and has discharged himself from the Liver specialist! In the last month I have seen a dramatic deteriorated in him, he has Jaundice, bad bruising and is very tired all the time as well as lots of other problems. After not being able to get out of bed I made him seek medical advice and they sent him to the hospital where they said there was not much they could do for him and that his life expectancy would be 3-6 months!! I have tried to talk to my dad regarding this and he does not seem to care! He is a recluse and has no friends and goes nowhere he drinks at home on his own. He has lived with his Mother who he is a sole carer for this concerns me as he can hardly look after himself! What rights do I have as his daughter to do things on his behalf as his mother is his next of kin and as she is 86 I don't think it would be fair for her to deal with this? I do not think he has any savings and I know he has no will so when things come to an end who will have to make all the decisions? I don't even know where to start and what to expect and feel very alone! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
