Dear support group,

Once the doctor's informed us about my father's liver Cancer and the need of a

transplant. I knew that I needed to educate myself about his disease and join a

support group because I wasn't copying too well with the news. So I gladly found

this great support group and joined (thank you for letting me be a part of it)

The truth is that I have never posted here but I have always read and found very

helpful all the postings I have received in my email.

I am writing because I am sitting in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit waiting

area and felt like sharing my family's joy. Today the amazing Liver Transplant

Team at the NY Presbyterian Hospital with Dr Tomoaki Kato in charge, are giving

life back to my father. We never thought this day would come but it did, sooner

than what we expected. I'll never forget the call we received yesterday at 10 am

we couldn't believe it, specially my dad. I believe that we are truly blessed to

have found a donor for my dad. I thank the person that in life decided to become

a donar of his organs to save other peoples lives. I personally am going to do

the same. I feel heart broken and sad for the family that today are suffering

this big loss. May God bless them and help them through this difficult time. My

most sincere condolences. I just want you to keep this family in your prayers.

I just came back from seeing my father, his surgery lasted 6 1/2 hours. He's in

the SICU recovering ,the doctors said the surgery was a success, now he has a

beautiful healthy liver. I whispered to him because even though he seemed he

couldn't listen I have a feeling he does. I can't wait for him to recover.  I

wanted to tell members that are on the waiting list not to give up, soon you'll

be getting that call that will change your life. I personally hope my dad

recovers and doesn't reject the new organ. I'm scared but I believe God is going

to help him. It's all in his hands.

Thank you for listening. My first language is not English.I hope you could

understand me well.

Never lose faith
