Guest guest
Dear , Congrats on getting your evaluation! I have a motto which goes like this... " why worry? To worry is to imagine a negative outcome, and it is just as easy to imagine a positive one. Therefor, worrying is just a waste of good imagination. " I hope the very best for you. It's all I can think about! I feel so anxious about it. I've been told I'm a very good candidate for transplant, but I have this persistent worry that there'll be some reason they'll deny me. Maybe silly and irrational, but much of my life does not feel very rational right now. I'm 24 and acquired cirrhosis through years of undiagnosed autoimmune hepatitis. My MELD was 17 when I was diagnosed in November; I'm not sure whether it's changed. I've also been warned that I may have to wait a long time for a transplant, which I'm also nervous about. I already feel so sick of being sick! I'm on such a host of medications to control complications of one kind or another. I keep feeling like I just want to get this over with and get back to my life! I'm sure you all can sympathize... A living donor might be a possibility for me; my whole family (mom, dad, and brother) has stepped up and offered to undergo evaluation. Does anyone know more about that part of the process, and what they look for? I've already read everything I can about living donor liver transplants, but there's nothing like firsthand experience. They're all in excellent health, and if I remember my biology correctly, our blood types should all be compatible; we're all either Type B or Type O. That's all for now. Wish me luck? --
