Hey guys,

Just curious.....have any of you taken Darvon/Propoxyphene for pain relief??

It's a narcotic....

My headaches started back up BIG TIME, and I've tried taking some of my old

(and I don't mean OLD OLD, just ones that didn't work before and thought I'd

try again....) medicine and none of them seems to help now either. At the

moment all I'm dealing with is my GP, I dropped my NSG earlier this year

because he wasn't willing to help me try to find medicine to help my h/a's

(but then according to " him " he did my decompression surgery so that's all he

can do!!) when they flared up last winter.

I'm fine as long as the temperature is hot/warm, but as soon as we start

getting this cold weather my headaches start up again!!! =*( I'm just

curious if the Darvon isn't working because it has caffine/asprin in it.....

Because it seems like ANY of the prescription medicine I've tried in the

past, that had the caffeine in it didn't work at all either. Even when I

went to the ER a while back they tried one with caffeine and I told them I

didn't think it would work, not even Percosett worked, we ended up using

Demerol (even though it took 2 shots of the stuff before my h/a mellowed out,

but then it was really SEVERE that night) before I was able to leave with

some relief.

What are some potent meds some of you have used, or are using for severe h/a

pain??? Just trying to get some ideas to tell my doctor. He's willing to

work with me to find something that WILL help!!! Here's some that I HAVE

tried with no results....

Tylenol 3 w/cod.

Fioricet

Fiorinal w/cod.

Darvocet

Vicoden (reg, ES, HP)

Midrin

Thanks in advance guys.....Take Care!!

Luv ya,

Amy Jo

I gave up on my NSG too and now I go to a terrific pain center. I take

Oxycontin (8 to 12 hr. time release) and Roxycodone (immediate short

acting form of Oxycontin) This is the base drug that is used in

Percadan/Percacette with out the aspirin or tylenol or anything else.

It is basicly synthetic morophine. The combination of the long acting

and the short form for break thru pain is terrific for me.

Good Luck,
