Guest guest
I have not seen scientific research but it would seem most babies are fine with the mother's usual diet (think babies in India or other countries that use lots of strong spices). Another thought, it is often recommended that women take Colace (or another stool softener) after giving birth. Colace has sorbitol in it which can cause terrible gas. So compare the two options- eating a high fiber diet or taking a stool softener - both cause gas. Guest guest
Here's written information from three different sources you can show the nurse. The breastmilk flavor changes with the foods consumed. That's a good thing! If the baby has a problem when a certain food is eaten, stop eating it for awhile and try again later. I work for WIC in Texas and it is a struggle to get women to breastfeed. Thanks for not giving in to what that nurse says! Guest guest
I did some research some years back in order to do a presentation on breastfeeding. One source said that the more variety mom eats, the more flavors her milk will have and the less picky eater the baby will be as he/she grows. This certainly was true with my husband and his 2 brothers. The 2 that were breast-fed, in the days of little variety and none of the problem causing foods were allowed, will eat very few vegetables and are a bit picky. The youngest brother was preemie and mom couldn’t breastfeed him. So, he was fed goats milk from their own goat – which ate anything that didn’t move. This brother will eat almost anything that is put in front of him.
