Guest guest
I have gone through some of the same dilemma since moving 6 times in 6 years all around the country. Not fun! I have heard that anything older than 7 years is history. Who knows though with the progression of things that could be reduced to 5 years I am also in the process of purging old paperwork. Most of it is on my computer and being backed up. Used book stores take almost anything. I have bought outdated books just for reference of pathways and old cookbooks which help me learn old school type cooking which I ultimately revamp Thrift stores might take some as well I love your comment about the test. That gave me a good laugh I remember when I took my exam I met a woman who was retaking hers because she let it lapse and I thought the same thing. I said to myself then and there, " I will never let that happen to me. " Not so much taking the test, but the preparation...Really NOT Fun! Good Luck! Sincerely, Brown, MS, RD _____ From: rd-usa [mailto:rd-usa ] On Behalf Of Nowak Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2008 1:38 PM To: RD USA Subject: old books and materials Hi all and a belated Happy New Year! Following up on my resolutions, I am cleaning out some boxes of this, that and everything ?!@@#$$%! Anyway, last year I became a stay-at-home mom with a remote chance of starting a business online over the next several years. I am trying to determine which of my vast collection of books and materials to get rid of and to whom I should give them. Since deciding to add to our two kids and knowing I'll be home for at least another 5-8 years if I'm lucky, I don't want to keep moving all this 'stuff' again and again (we've lived in 5 houses in four states since 2000). Thanks for any suggestions you have. I love being a part of the listserve because I still feel connected. I do plan on maintaining my registration because who would ever want to take that test again!!! Happy Winter!!! Definitely keep any old textbooks; you may wind up educating and need some anatomy/physiology/biochem info. I don't bother with old JADAs (or new ones, for that matter), you can get abstracts on PubMed and if you really need an article, can purchase it. - ne
