Greetings! My name is and I work as a Vendor Manager at ForeignExchange

Translations Inc, a US-based translation agency that focuses solely on regulated

medical industries. You can learn more about us through our website:

www.fxtrans.com.

There is no specific job at this moment, but we are constantly seeking out

resources to help us with our projects! For anyone who is interested in being

placed on our lists of possible linguists, I just need some information.

Would you mind answering the following questions at your earliest convenience,

so that I may get a better idea of your translation experience? I would greatly

appreciate it!

• In what language pair(s) do you offer medical translation services?

English<>Maltese

• Please confirm your native language. Maltese

• How many years of medical translation experience do you have? 12

years

• What is your average weekly volume (number of words) for

translation? 5000 words

• Do you work with a translation tool such as Trados or TagEditor? If

so, what version(s) do you use? Yes, Trados 2009

• Please provide a sample list of medical jobs you have translated in

the past 6 months. We are interested in specific examples -- types of projects

and approximate volumes that you have translated or edited. Please include

information such as what was translated, the medical specialty involved, word

count (estimate), etc.

I have updated a number of SPCs and PILs for the EMEA (number of words updated

roughly 2000 words) (English into Maltese). I have translated medical

questionnaires from American English to Australian English (roughly 1500 words).

I have also worked on branding analysis of medical products projects for the

Australian market.

*(You do not need to provide client names, should you be restricted to by an

NDA)*

• Please also describe your experience editing and/or proofing others'

translations.

I have a lot of experience proofreading SPC and PIls for the EMEA.

• Please provide references.

Max Doerfler – langpro@...

• Please provide your per-word rates, for technical medical

translation, for the following (for those that apply):

a) Translation: $USD 20 per 100 words.

B) Edit:

c) Proof: $USD 10 per 100 words

d) Volume TR (for projects over 10,000 words): Not interested in

translating projects over 5000 words

e) Volume ED:

f) Hourly: $100 an hour (1000 words)

g) Minimum (if different from Hourly): $USD 20 up to 100 words

• Would you be willing to take a short medical translation test? Yes

Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide the above information. If

you have any questions, or would like me to provide additional information,

please do not hesitate to let me know. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

PLEASE, DO NOT REPLY TO THE LIST, but to the sender.

Moreover, Brigitte has chosen the " no mail " option in her list settings,

so she can't read your message !!!

Thank you for your understanding.

Don't expect much impact, Carmel - the rates they offered the last time

they approached me were at about 30% of what you quote.
