OÄ probably means " Oberärztin " , and " Winter " is her name.

RA must be rechtes Auge

" im Niveau " means at the same level as surrounding tissue

This is an Ophthalmology dictionary for several languages, maintained by

two German ophthalmologists, where you can type in questions.

In a message dated 4/26/2012 2:15:01 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time,

lists@... writes:

" Fundus (med. Mydr.) R/L: OÄ Winter v/d: RA im Verlauf des infer. temp.

Gefäßbogens 1/2 PD gr., im Niveau gelegener Aderhaut-Naevus "

Can anyone help me sort this out, especially bits between **? Any DE

ophthalmologists in the house??

So far I have:

Fundus (med. mydriasis) Right/Left: **????????: Right eye** (RA usually

stands for right eye, but perhaps not here! what else?) in the course of

the inferior temporal vascular arcade **1/2 PD gr.,** choroidal naevus

in the margin.

Grateful thanks

Margaret

Hi Margaret,

" PD " is Papillendurchmesser, IMO, see

http://books.google.de/books?id=QHuXEI8SQCQC & pg=PA29 & lpg=PA29 & dq=aderhaut+gro%C3\

%9F+papillendurchmesser+PD & source=bl & ots=D6zgc9K9Y0 & sig=QSaQQraJdY4rch-Eny7Gikw_\

wgk & hl=de & sa=X & ei=YqCZT9LmI8-VswaNufi5AQ & ved=0CCAQ6AEwAA#v=onepage & q=aderhaut%20\

gro%C3%9F%20papillendurchmesser%20PD & f=false

And I second you and as far as " RA " for " rechtes Auge " is concerned.

Best,

ne

I think the " v/d " is still missing ... " vom Dienst " seems likely

Thank you and ne - a great help, especially the dictionary link.

It was a review of a translation of a discharge letter in which the

original translator had just left a lot of the abbreviations, never mind

left stuff out or got it wrong.....
