Guest guest
Hi I am the compiler of the list mentioned by Becker and am a member of this group. The file was posted on a Facebook medical translators' group by someone who had received it as a member of the ITI Medical Network, for whose members the list is produced, and he did so without asking for my permission first. It has now been taken down. The list is multilingual, currently stands at 495 pages and has been compiled by me over many years from my own translation work and background research and from contributions by members of the ITI Medical Network. I try to maintain some kind of control over distribution of the list, partly because I want recipients to contribute to the list themselves. I have recently, quite by chance, come across a shorter version of this list from five or six years ago online, posted by a national translators' association, without any acknowledgement, and it is unclear to me how this has happened. I am perfectly willing for anyone on this group to have a copy of the file, provided you confirm that you will use it for your own purposes and not pass it on to others without asking for my approval, and preferably make a note of abbreviations you come across in your own work that were not immediately obvious and are not already in the list and send them to me for incorporation into the list. Thanks for your understanding - I've spent hundreds of hours on this list and I'm sure you'll appreciate my concern to maintain some kind of control over its distribution. Rob robwilliams321@...
