Semi-OT: large LUZ Ger>Engl project: your experiences so far]

Apologies for cross-posting.

(For some reason I haven't been able to post from the Yahoo site for some

days - does anyone know why?)

I suspect that some (many?) of you are involved in this project, either as

translators or editors.

The way the project has been handled so far is one that I find

disappointing in several respects. The scheduling has been unsatisfactory,

causing me a significant financial loss when I turned down other jobs and

kept my timetable clear as arranged, only to find that I am not receiving

the promised files in the format we had agreed. Luz is refusing to

consider payment for my wasted time. Collaboration with one of my

counterparts has been fraught with, hmmm, shall we say difficulties,

presumably because he was as frustrated as I was. The work of another

counterpart is of a disappointing standard. And now Luz is retrospectively

imposing a glossary which I find incorrect in several instances.

I would appreciate your comments, either here (remember this is a closed

group, but please refrain from potentially defamatory statements) or

offlist. I may reply offlist in group emails, so please indicate if you do

not wish to be on such mailing list.
