My Momma took quinine for leg cramps for many years. Did you ask your

doctor about taking them? Your hepatologist should be the one to make that

decision. Any medication has side effects. For most people, they will

never experience anything servere. For those few that do, the FDA requires

that the warnings be put on the labels. Talk to your doctor if you haven't

done so already. I honestly believe Momma would have died sooner without

them. He legs cramped so badly they would draw up while she was sleeping

and awaken her. She couldn't get up because her legs wouldn't straighten

out. For years she endured the cramps. Then, she changed doctors and he

immediately gave her a script for the quinine. It was like a miracle

drug! I do pray you will find relief soon.

I hate that the Drs like to put so much emphasis on weight being the problem!!

I know for myself it was the liver that caused such vastly high numbers in my

weight.  I lost 30 lbs on the last Hep C treatment and nobody noticed because

my belly was still extended.  Then, I lost another 10 lbs when they did the

liver resection and did people ever notice that!!  They were seeing the whole

40 lbs!!  I maintained that weight since the operation, not from trying, but it

just wouldn't matter what.  Recently I added another 10 lbs for the 1st time

since the operation.  I don't know - as my liver gets sicker and sicker what

happens.

So question - as the liver gets sicker and sicker, do we not want to eat at

all??  I believe that some folks actually do the MMJ in order to eat.

You're right about side effects being on the labels. They have to be there, even

if 1 in 1000 had a problem. I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom having to go

through those painful cramps. I think I'll try some of the tonic water, since it

didn't seem to harm your mom and it did a lot of good for her. My Hep Doc

doesn't tell me much of anything. He has so many patients that 5 min is about

all I get.
