Guest guest
Sam, My aldosterone (serum) was 15 and the renin was at 4.8. My Dr is stating that I may need florinef and wants me to read up on it (though that is going to have to wait until the brain fog truly decreases). What is your take on this level?.....I am unsure as to if it is too low or if it is at what would be considered a normal/good level. Guest guest
Please tell me where they are in their ranges. Flinef is the brand name for fludrocortisone. It is the only replacement med for aldosterone. The typical dose is either 0.1mg or 1/2 of that per day. How you start it is 1/4 tab per day (morning with food) for 7-10 days, then add another 1/4 tab (1/2 tab) for 7-10 days, and so on until you are on a whole tab. You must take 1/2 tsp unprocessed sea salt with lots of water twice a day with it. This is how I was taught to do it, and how I did do it, altho my " perfect " dose has ended up being 1/4 tab every other day. After you've been on it for a month or so, you need to get potassium, sodium, magnesium levels checked and supplement as needed. If you've had them tested already, it might be wise to do so now. You may need to supplement whatever you are low in after strting Florinef. By the way, if the brand name Florinef is not available, the generic " Fludrocortisone " is, and at CostCo it is the least expensive (that's where I get mine).
