Guest guest
I heard a thump against the kitchen window. I went outside and found a small red finch who had apparently missed the bird feeder and hit the kitchen window. He was sitting dejectedly atop a red tulip next to the house. I came inside to get my camera and take his picture. I approached him slowly and spoke gently and quietly, and he allowed me to take his picture, but he had a rather disgusted look on his face, rather like " how could I have been so STUPID! " I was thinking only of how grateful I was that he didn't kill himself, considering how fragile finches are, grateful that God is so protective of his tiny creatures, grateful that I was able to capture a picture of this moment of a red bird atop a red tulip, and smiling inside at the comical expression on the bird's face. The bird was thinking of his failure, and how he'd probably like to peck my eyes out. It reminded me of how, next time my wobbly legs or hands fail me, maybe I'd better not beat myself up and think " how could I have been so STUPID " and maybe just look for that red tulip to perch on until I can get myself together and fly away.
