Guest guest
Hello to everyone in e-fibroidland!! just wondering if any of you have anything to say on estrogen/hormone replacement therapy for women with fibroids going thru menopause?? i had UAE last april as an alternative to hysterectomy...i had a garden of fibroids adding up to a 4-5 mo fetus size uterus pressing into my bladder...i was close to menopause anyway & as told this helped push me into full menopause...UAE certainly helped my symptoms of heavy bleeding causing anemia & pressure on bladder but only one of my significant sized fibroids shrunk 20% at my 3 month post UAE sonogram!! my IR said there can be secondary blood vessels feeding into the uterus (this may be interesting to those of u considering UAE?)...i know women in general r confused on the ert issue but we especially have concerns about estrogen fueling fibroids...i'm currently taking a drug for hot flashes/sleeping that isn't a hormone but contains phenobarb & was wondering if anyone has any feedback on this topic...my own gyn thinks i should try ert but i'm still afraid of fueling my hopefully still shrinking fibroid filled uterus! thanks for any thoughts on this from anyone out there nearing menopause...Joan (long island, new york)
