Guest guest
My mom had an RA nodule on her elbow. I had a nodule on a finger... they looked the same- but I have not heard of anyone getting nodules on fingers. Has anyone here heard of that? It went away after about 18 months, but my other hand a different finger now has one. Another thing is one finger turned sort of black and thick at the middle joint - and it stayed that way maybe 12 months- then that went away and a middle finger did it. (I was scared of- gangrene but doc said no) on top of both hands near my wrist bend- I got a huge " ridge " on each that was very hard like a bone, and very tall, I called it my hand mountain. by the base of my thumb over my wrist on both hands there is also softer swelling that has been there a year. AFter the MTX began the hard ridge slowly " melted " away and is now gone! YAY. but the soft swelling is still there- looks sorta funny. I have also noticed it seems some tissue on top of my hands is gone- more like just skin over bones (I am not a little person- I have some padding, LOL) and the knuckles at the base of most of my fingers there is soft swelling that has not subsided in maybe 2 years. SOmetimes it turns almost a blackish color- sometimes, when I bathe it turns bright red, irregardless of if it hurts or not. Does anyone else have this? Is this common and normal? Guest guest
Hi to you dreamer and to Jillian, and any other new members I may have missed. Everyone's stories are different, yet everyone's the same. We really are a family here. About nodules: MTX use can cause nodules on the fingers. A friend of mine developed them severely, and had to have surgery to remove them. According to her, however, she feels so much better on MTX, it's worth the nodules. I have the ridge on my wrists too, left worse than right, and most likely will be on MTX soon. I hope it dissolves my " hand mountains " Noreen
Guest guest
the nodules on my fingers do not hurt. They just are not very - pretty, LOL. WHen I first got sick and could not work, I started getting my nails done- scultured nails, ya know? well eventually I decided gosh those people doing them really would manhandle my poor hands and THAT hurt- so I stopped. Now I think maybe I would not get my nails done anyway cuz my fingers are so ugly. I wear these compression gloves- partly cuz it often feels good, but I wear black ones cuz it sometimes stops people from grabbing my hands. It also covers the " mountains " LOL. The mountains themselves did not hurt either- you could push on them and that did not hurt- it was just how they might restrict movement. I think I did not like how the mountains looked- but I do not think other people noticed them, really, mostly just me, even tho they were so tall. Nodules on lungs like mike was talking about- I heard that too- and that sounds awful scary to me!!!!!!! I wonder if I would get better effect from injectable MTX? I am lucky- no negative side effects from MTX but- I do not think I am getting a whole lot of relief either. It has been just a full 3 months, tho. Maybe I need to be more patient. - In , " Noreen Saukko " <nsaukko@r...> wrote: > Hi to you dreamer and to Jillian, and any other new members I may have missed. > Everyone's stories are different, yet everyone's the same.
