Guest guest
Association of Educators in Radiological Sciences Curriculum on Bone Densitometry Patient Positioning for a Bone Mineral Density of the Proximal Femur (Hip) -The patient is supine, mid-sagittal plane of the body in the midline of the table, legs extended. (Shoes are removed). -Internally rotate the ankle and knee of the affected leg 25 degrees and rest it on the appropriate support device. - Feet are strapped to the foot holder to ensure proper degree of rotation and to assist patient in maintaining the position. The foot holder also ensures that the same degree of rotation will be performed on subsequent studies. -The technologist must again evaluate the image as it is projected to check accuracy of positioning. If positioning is inaccurate, the exam should be stopped until the patient is repositioned. http://www.aers.org/dexa.html I'll tell you where to go!
