Guest guest
Cindi, I am sorry that your appeal was denied, but don't give up. I am sure some of the other members will give you some advice. Guest guest
Cindi:Don't be terrified....this is a normal process....answer the questions that are asked truefully, don't offer any extra info, just short trueful and concise. As far as how you dress, I was told to dress as you normally dress......my hearing lasted 15 minutes.....15 months of waiting for an opening with the judge it makes you wonder....they had the judge, a vocational person who's job is to say whether or not they think you are employable anywhere with your medical problems, and Doc hired by SS that the judge can ask medical questions to.....good luck and try not to stress out to much...Kathi in OK > HI TO EVERYONE, > I JUST FOUND OUT MY APPEAL HAS BEEN DENIED. > NOW I HAVE TO GO TO A HEARING. Guest guest
With regard to what to wear Cindi, I would dress nicely in business attire. Bring evidence. Prepare ahead of time for what you want to say. I wish I knew more about SSI hearings, so I could give you better information -- is there a local bar group that could provide you some free legal assistance? Try calling your local bar group, they might be able to point you in the right direction, and this is just the sort of thing young lawyers in big firms like to take on for free (pro bono). I wish you luck!! Michele [ ] cindi needs help - hearing HI TO EVERYONE, I JUST FOUND OUT MY APPEAL HAS BEEN DENIED. NOW I HAVE TO GO TO A HEARING. Guest guest
Our attorney told us to dress very basic, no jean, no sweats, just something classic. He also said to not wear a lot of jewelry, for me just earrings, my wedding ring, and a watch. He told my son (20 at the time) not to wear any jewelry of any kind and keep him tattoo covered. He has a tattoo on his upper arm so his shirt sleeve always covers it, though. I wore a simple dress that was classic, one that would still be in style 20 years from now. My son wore khaki Dockers and a button down shirt with a collar. He said not to wear a tie or a suit. Becky [ ] cindi needs help - hearing HI TO EVERYONE, I JUST FOUND OUT MY APPEAL HAS BEEN DENIED. Guest guest
All the advice you have been given is good. I am an attorney with RA and work for a legal services program and I urge you to contact your local legal services program to see what help you can receive. I would check this site for other posts relating to what to expect at hearings. has quite a resource collection put together I am sure. I would also check a site called Arthritis Insight (www.arthritisinsight.com) - they have a fair amount of info to look through as well. If you have just received your denial - it may be a while before the hearing occurs so I think you will have time to look into these options to prepare for any hearing. Good luck to you > Our attorney told us to dress very basic, no jean, no sweats, just something > classic.
