Guest guest
I read this this morning and thought it was very interesting Among patients with advanced liver disease, profound HCV RNA suppression induced by interferon therapy was associated with decreased hepatic inflammation as long as 3.5 year after cessation of treatment even in the presence of recurrent viremia. Interferon may stop the virus but it will not stop the fibrosis progression. Decreased hepatic inflammation, not HCV RNA suppression (directly), was associated with reduced fibrosis progression. Reduction of hepatic inflammation appears to be a key target to retard the progression of hepatitis C-related liver disease. So in other words Stopping or reducing inflammation of the liver retards or stops the progression of fibrosis even if the virus was not killed. That is important to all of us. Reducing inflammation by not using sugar, eating foods that reduce inflammation like apples, berries etc. will help in this. I also take a drink of Nopalea which stops inflammation and removes toxins from the cells every morning. Quercetin will also do this and that compound is also found in apples. That is probably why I feel great in spite of having cirrhosis stage 4 of the liver. If you want to read the whole article here is the site. It is very technical and hard to understand. http://www.natap.org/2012/HCV/071012_02.htm Z
