Guest guest
Tommie, you might think I sound like a broken record, but it is unlikely you will ever receive any good pain management until you seek a specialist in the field of pain medicine. Pain medicine is it's own specialty, and is NOT the same as pain management. Doctors who are not pain medicine specialists will just lie to you, or prescribe you pain pills with poisonous Tylenol in it, or other much worser NSAIDS, which are contraindicated in patients with liver disease. The specialty for prescribing non poisonous opiate analgesics is called " Physaiatrist " . It looks like psychiatrist, as in PSYC, but it is different. Think, PHYS-EYE-UH-TRIST. People who get torn up in car accidents, or war see these kinds of doctors, who specialize in rehabilittion. Some double as addiction medicine doctors, which makes them more useful. http://www.aapmr.org/patients/aboutpmr/pages/physiatrist.aspx You cannot get a cavity filled by a primary care doctor, nor can you get a heart catheterization. For those, you need a specialist.-For pain in my bulging liver capsule, enlarged spleen and rib tumor-a physiatrist is whom I went to see. They do exist, several people here on this forum have them. Anyone who has a loved one or is themselves suffering needlessly, my heart goes out to them. love,Bobby  ________________________________ To: livercirrhosissupport Sent: Monday, August 6, 2012 5:58 PM Subject: Re: New Question  HELLO everyone i got some questions and comments, anyone been taking the drug gabmapentin, excuse my spelling, short for gerneric nuerontin... this drug work for me for a couple of hours, then its back to square one, it good for my nerve naparaphy... but other than that you are left out in the cold.... i also got acid reflex. and i am catching hell.. but anyway, i am changing doctor, because this the one i have now just dont give a shit, i saw him last week and i got the colonos.... and the egd....no varices, no cancer, but now back to the hepc... i am so weak all the time, on the complete right side, pain everywhere from the toe to the top of my head...i got an excellent nuerologist, he is the best in the country, but that damn hepc doctor, i would give 2 dollar for his treatment....anytime a doctor can answer any of your questions, then he shouldnt be in the field.... i ask him about pain management he all but told me i had to live with it.....i am going crazy with being so weak.... i dont have all the syptoms, that most people are going through, i thank god for that... but side pain on the right...it is killing me... i had an xray said everything was okay, but my pain tell me different... i am sure there is someone out that that is having the same pain, if you are please talk to me, yours going crazy... tommie Tommie Davenport dtdaven7398@... New Question Hi everyone I have a question and certainly hope that some of you can give me your thoughts. As you know, I have terminal liver cancer. It is awesome that I have been granted the last 11 months with very little problem. Then, about 2 weeks ago, all the signs of a very unhealthy liver. Fatigue came bounding back in and doesn't seem to want to leave yet. But, I also had dark urine and gray stools, plus it took nothing for me to suddenly have a bruise. So, I went in to see my Dr and of course, she sent me for blood tests, urine test and soon I'll have an Ultra Sound. Well, she wanted to see me and I guess we all worry a bit when our Drs want us to come in. However, all my blood work came back stupendously wonderful. Still battling with a good urine specimen; but, I'll get there. Anyway, so my question is this - is this part of the whole cycle of the liver?? Except for the fatigue, I'm back to feeling pretty damn good again. I'd like to believe that the Creator isn't done with me yet, so it's not my time anyway. Guest guest
Tommy As usual, Bobby has given you some very good information. I just finished typing a response on another group, where I strongly suggested that the person have that one primary care Dr, who gets copies of reports from any specialists you see and in one place. Even easier, get a copy of any and all blood tests and reports for yourself and then you would have them available if the primary hasn't received one. I am and have been very fortunate to have had a couple of primary care Drs that did not try to treat me for something they knew little about. I was sent to the specialist in that field. Also, I would not stand for a Dr that told me to just live with it!! If that's as much help as he/she can muster, then I do not want to ever come back. He/she are not in my body to feel the way that I do. As well, I have great respect for a Dr that out and out says, I don't know and will send you to that specialist. We definitely can not expect our primary to know everything. Nor can we expect the heart Dr can deal with the liver. I battled through 2 Hep C treatments; but, finally won that fight. I'm just not going to beat the whole war. By the way, there is a little pill (prescription) that will help you greatly with that acid reflux. Seems my whole family have some kind of digestion problems. Mine is a sliding hiatus hernia, where as my mother had the reflux. Same medication though. Also, why would they do an x-ray for what you have described. Even a CT Scan would be far better. I only had x-rays for my lungs. When it comes to my very damaged liver, it was never less than an Ultra Sound. ________________________________ hi tommi the pain you are having on the right side is it a burning that takes for ever to go away you are having a heart attack or a closing in your chest?  bev Tommie, you might think I sound like a broken record, but it is unlikely you will ever receive any good pain management until you seek a specialist in the field of pain medicine.
