Guest guest
LouAnn, in the absence of an overlap syndrome, the coexistence of systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis in an individual is rare. Far more people are told that they have lupus and RA than actually do, most likely due to misinterpretation of lab test results. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Hello, Renate! No it is not common for people with RA to develop lupus. At least 30% of people with RA are ANA positive at some time, but a positive ANA does not automatically mean lupus. Most people who have a positive ANA do not have lupus. What drugs are you currently taking? I'll tell you where to go! Mayo Clinic in Rochester http://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester s Hopkins Medicine http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org [ ] Ra and Lupus > Is it common for people with RA to Develope Lupus also. I had an appt. with my rheumy yesterday and my last blood test shows possitive for lupus. I have a rash across my cheeks and nose in which they said could be lupus or a sun reaction, but do not have rash any where else. No mouth or nose sores. Anyone have any commments to help? > > > Renate
