Guest guest
June, How right you are about Pat. For those who don¹t know, Pat was one of the original moderators of this group when it was first formed. She is a nurse and is one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate persons that I know. I wish she was able to be active with us again, but it is to difficult since she still works full time in spite of her limitations. I know she still reads when she can. Pat has a beautiful spirit and I¹m very blessed to have her for a friend. June I wish you the best on your upcoming surgery. I¹m glad you got to talk to Pat and feel better about your surgery. I hope this surgery gives you some relief. a > Hi Rick, I have surgery coming up on my cervical spine C1 and C2. Guest guest
June, I enjoyed talking to you and I am glad you feel better. I remember when I had my first baby everyone told me about their terrible labor and delivery, I started to think it was a mistake to have a baby. When I needed my first spinal surgery, people had me terrified. Of course, we know there are risks but we have to remember that in most cases the results are wonderful, our pain is decreased and we can get back to living life. Your kind words are appreciated. I have always admired your courage and positive attitude. When I was in rehab after my stroke and having a tough day, I thought about people like you, Elaine and a and managed to push through the hard days. I knew that you had all experienced difficulties and managed to keep you sense of humor and your spirit. I just could not let you guys beat me, I had to make it through and keep laughing. This list and the people on the list are important to me, I am so glad that people like you are still here to encourage people who have just been diagnosed. When I was first diagnosed (35 years ago), I wish I had known someone like you. It would have given me so much hope. I'm just thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know you when I did. Pat [ ] ] Neck Surgery Question Hi Rick, I have surgery coming up on my cervical spine C1 and C2. I was terrified until I phoned our own dear Pat who has had many surgeries on her spine and I recall her telling me that any spine surgery should be performed by a neuro-surgeon not an ortho. I do know that after speaking to her. because of her extensive knowledge and her patient explanations, I no longer have any fear or feeling of apprehension. I can't speak for Pat but when she reads your post, if time permits, she will email you with some information that will answer your questions. Love you, Pat. For those of you who have not had the pleasure of knowing her, she is one of the bravest ladies I know, who in spite of all the many pain and setbacks she has endured over the years, has never lost her great sense of humour. Hopefully, when time permits she will tell her story here. Hugs June
