I'd like to know whether it's dangerous to go home too early after a laparotomy. I was sent home after 2 days and my car ride home really hurt!!!! I'm so afraid that things got shaken around and I have torn things already. I was told that I'm cut internally from the belly button down. ( My fibroids were really large). Also, when should I expect my 1st bowel movement? Walking, sitting, and getting in and out of bed or a chair is very painful. Is this OK? Gravity seems to hurt my abdomen. I'm so worried that I've over exerted myself too soon and have caused some internal tearing & bleeding and more SCAR tissue..... Thank you in advance.... _________________________________________________________________________ This all sounds par for the course. 2 days does seem a bit short. I stayed for 4 days. I had a b.m. in the hospital. I know that all of the morphine, etc. is constipating. Be sure to drink a lot of water and eat lots of fiber. I'm sure you're all stitched up internally and won't tear anything. I know it feels like things are ripping apart...take it easy for a while. You've been through major surgery, but will soon be so much better off than before!
