Guest guest
I've only been diagnosed for about a year, but I had to give up my contacts a few months ago. It always felt like something was in there, and I couldn't stand it. Bad news for me, is I could see better with the contacts. Being over 40 as well, I have to have bifocals, and the glasses just suck. But I couldn't see at all when my eyes were hurting from the contacts, so I guess I have to live with it. Noreen [ ] A question about eyes Hi there, I am generally a lurker but I have a question. I went to the eye doctors this morning and needless to say it was a little disconcerting. I had only thought the only problem with eyes and RA were dry eyes. He said I probally wouldn't be able to wear contacts within 5 years.......I have only had Ra for 3 years and for the past year, i have been very stable. Can anyone give me insight any problems you gals might be having and , any addl reading? Thanks so much Chris
Guest guest
For what it's worth i'm 30 years old and have had diagnosed RA since 1998. I still wear contacts, but I do use rehydrating drops as necessary. I've noticed an increase in the need for the drops, but not enough to stop wearing the contacts. > Hi there, > I am generally a lurker but I have a question. > I went to the eye doctors this morning and needless to say it was a little > disconcerting. Guest guest
Hi All, I am one of the " lucky " ones who has eye involvement with RA - it is a seperate connective tissue disorder called Sorgrens. It is the Dry Eye disease. Plus all the meds we take cause dryness. I use lubricating eye drops on a routine basis, 4 times per day - no exceptions. I see the Opthmalogist almost as many times as the Rhemy. I am currently battling a dry patch on the outside white part of my left eye. I could not figure out why my eyes were so bad - the last 2 weeks. Well, the punctum plugs that they put in 2002 were too small and came out. I am scheduled for new ones in 2 weeks. These plugs stop up one set of tear ducts in each eye and keep the tears in the eye where they belong. Hope this helps, Gentle Hugs & Prayers, Carol M. in CA
