I couldn't get to the website -- I got an error message. ;-{ But in some states a patient can report a doctor for not providing proper pain relief. I can't recall which ones (very few), but I do know Tennessee is not one of them, and Ohio is. I couldn't get any doctor in TN to prescribe me Tic Tacs (considering that I, of course, am nothing but a malingerer and a drug addict! ;-p). Every time I went to a new doc, they wanted my old records -- and I was history! Finally, after finding and seeing a pain specialist in Ohio for a while who did provide me with pain meds and a regimen to follow, I did find a decent primary doctor in a most unusual manner. (Long story!) He did not ask for my prior records, and I did not volunteer them. He has been wonderful and doesn't even bat an eyelash when I ask for something my pain management doc doesn't provide. (I don't like asking my pain doc for too much; he is being "watched" by the DEA because he does believe in providing pain relief and he also has testified on behalf of other docs who have been reprimanded for "over-prescribing.") Believe you me -- I know it's hard to hang in there, but sometimes finding a doc is just a freak accident away! Dr. Devin Starlanyl is a friend of mine now, and she sent me to my doc in Ohio. (Devin has written highly-acclaimed books on fibromyalgia and chronic myofascial pain syndrome, and my doc in Ohio is also her doc!) I found my primary when I was interviewed by Nashville's daily paper and they interviewed him as well for the same article! (It was about doctor-patient communications.) I firmly believe that chronic pain sufferers undergo constant injustices, and me and my big mouth have been all over the newspapers and a local TV program in an effort to change all that! I was a writer in my "former" life and try to put it to good use now. It started with one simple letter to the editor and I'm not finished yet! I encourage everyone to speak out when you can! It does make a difference; people are beginning to listen!
