Guest guest
Judi...Do you have cancer or autoimmune disease or both? My husband's chemo was also good news/bad news. He now has cirrhosis from the chemo pumped directly into his liver. We are in Illinois but in Crestwood, a southwest suburb. We just had lots of warnings on the TV but nothing more. Guest guest
I'm in Illinois near St. Louis, Missouri. We are supposed to get storms the rest of this week into the weekend. That makes me a little nervous as my son was struck by lightning when he was 13 in 1996 during a bad thunderstorm. Becky [ ] Illinois weather and an update To all the Illinoisans: I don't miss the flooding Des Plaines River but I sure do miss " cooler by the lake! " It has been in the upper 80's and humid, and we have cicadas by the thousands. It's so noisy we have to keep the windows closed in order to hear TV. We had a real strong storm about 1 AM this morning with hail and high wind, but no damage here at our house. Not much rain, so the river that bisects our town is at a low level, but when it rains north of here, then we get flooding. I finished 4 weeks of alpha Interferon chemotherapy (Intron A) and saw the oncologist this morning. He agreed with me that it backfired and was causing more problems that it was curing. I grew new tumors, the old ones got bigger and more painful, and the joint pain was so bad it felt like something was tearing me apart from the inside out. So now we know that Dercum's is " probably " autoimmune, and he kindly said " sorry I can't help you any more. " Now I'm back where I was a month ago, with no sign of any help. But I refuse to give up--where there's life there's hope, and we'll just have to keep looking. God has a plan for me with this. Peace, Judi

Guest guest
Judi, I'm so sorry that the interferon alpha didn't seem to help you. What about a trip to see that physician who's collecting all the samples of blood from Dercum's patients? Have you called or written Mayo to see if they have any bright ideas? If they can't help you, perhaps they know who can. I'll tell you where to go!
