Guest guest
Sue - won't guess on cause - but with regard to dyes - there is the usual miserable prep to make you squeaky clean before hand. If you have any allergies- seafood/shellfish they need to know. Iodine is used in many dyes. Good luck- let us know results. karen > > Today my endo called me and said that he had received a report about my > CT scan that was done as part of the Diabetes Heart Study that my > siblings and I participated in. Guest guest
Sue, If you are allergic to Iodine they will have you take some medicines to counteract with the Iodine. If you take Glucophage ( a diabetic medicine) it also requires you to not take it the for a certain time prior to your scan. Your radiology dept can assist you in what you will need to do. I assume you will drink a contrast which is usually mixed with juice and has no real taste to it but generally makes your bowels a little loose and they will probably inject dye and makes you have a warm sensation through your body. This is generally the prep for doing an abdominal and or pelvis region. Guest guest
Thanks, Terri. I called the radiology department today to find out about taking Glucophage. She said not to take it the morning of the CT scan. Then, afterward, I can't take it for 48 hours. She said that I would drink a liquid and be injected with dye. I just hope they don't find anything bad, like cancer. It's hard not to worry, even though I don't even know if there's anything to worry about or not.
