Guest guest
Hi Everyone, a and , Well I had my teeth out and everything went well. It took less than a half hour and no pain. I thought I was in the clear. I came home and about two hours later I started to bleed by that night the bleeding was really bad. Actually I have never seen so much blood. I called and couldn't get the dentist so I called my primary. He sent me to the hospital. They took the teeth out the blood and clots filled the basin. They tried for three hours to stop this bleeding and finally had to put in more stitches. Which I don't understand why they didn't do it in the beginning. When the doctor came in he announced to me, he didn't know what I was doing there because he wasn't a dentist. He got nice after he saw the problem. We spent most of the night at the hospital. Now blood pressure is bottoming out, but I know what to do about that. It happens every time I have to go to the hospital. So I have been on the couch for the last couple of days. The bleeding has just stopped, but they don't want me to move my head around to much. This is scary but getting the teeth out was so easy. My dil and I couldn't believe how smooth everything went. Little did we know. Hope everyone has a nice holiday. Lynn MeMom
Guest guest
Oh, dear! Lynn, that's not the sort of recovery I wished for you. I'm so sorry you went through all of that and had to be hospitalized, too. Not fun, I'm sure. Monitor how your RA is doing over the next couple days and weeks - we'll have at least one case for the record on whether blood-letting is a good therapy, LOL! Seriously, please rest well, and I hope you can enjoy your new smile very soon. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
I am so glad that you went to the hospital. I have heard of more problems with the mouth after dental work then ever before. I am glad that they got the bleeding stopped and have you on my prayer list for some extra special prayers. When are you getting your new teeth? God bless, Althea
Guest guest
Hi , Well I didn't expect all that happened. I did tell the dentist there could be a problem with bleeding. He should have listened to me. Anyway it is all okay now. I am very happy with the new teeth. Have to say I am glad it is all over. Now it is just getting to them. Eating is impossible plus I am afraid of bleeding again. I finally got it to stop. Hope you and the kids are well. Lynn wrote: > Oh, dear! Lynn, that's not the sort of recovery I wished for you. Guest guest
Hi Althea, Thank you so much for the prayers. I was very afraid when it was all happening. I really have never seen so much blood. I have my teeth. They took the top teeth out and put the new ones right in. They told me the teeth acts like a band aid. You mentioned a lot of people having problems after dental work. That is what the doctor said. He told us, he gets so mad at these dentist for not leaving an emergency phone with their patients. Anyway I think all is well now. My blood pressure is even back up, so now it is just getting use to the teeth. Hope you are well and were able to enjoy the holiday. Again thank you for your prayers. Guest guest
So glad to see your feeling better. My dentist actually works in extra time...I had three fillings- one pretty deep and he would only do two at a time...because he was afraid my jaw would get tired or flare. I told him that was not a problem for most lawyers...but he saw beyond the humor. His brother has had RA for a long time and Bob is very sensitive to most issues. When I was on blood thinners a couple of years ago...he was very kind and very cautious. Is this linked to the tummy problems you have had for so long...just glad to see you are doing better and that the BP is under control. Guest guest
Hi June, I love my new teeth, even if I did have a time of it. So far I am just on soup. I am afraid of starting up any bleeding. I see the dentist tomorrow for a follow up. I am using fixodent. I read on the papers they gave me, not to use tooth paste to clean the dentures. So I am using the tablets they gave me. Do you know anything about cleaning the teeth? I would appreciate any help/. Thank you for your note, Lynn June Dixon wrote: > Hi Lynn, sorry you had such an episode at the dentist. Guest guest
Hi a, It is so funny you mentioned dentist and no emergency number. That is what the doctor in the emergency room said. He told me, he is sick and tired of dentist being unavailable after they do dental work. What made me mad was this dentist was aware of the bleeding problem I could have. I called at five-thirty, got the answering machine and left a message. Stating I was bleeding, I got no call back. However, the next morning when I mentioned the night at the hospital they called. That hospital visit did nothing but scare my daughter. We have been that route before many times. As much as I wanted to go to the U. of P. I am sort of glad I did. Just because of the distance. However, maybe they would have listened to me better. I don't think this dentist believed that I have this bleeding problem. I see him tomorrow. He may remove the stitches or leave them in. I am asking him to leave them alone, I don't want anymore problems. Even after all this I like the teeth. My wonderful DIL told me yesterday I had a pretty smile, that made my day. How you doing with the new home and your health? The move had to be hard on you. I hope you have been able to find some good doctors. Lynn a wrote: > Lynn, > > Yuck! Guest guest
Hi , No this isn't related to the stomach, thank goodness. That is a whole other issue. How lucky you were able to find a dentist who understand RA. I told my dentist I had the RA and just looked at me. He is a good dentist but right now I feel he didn't listen to me. I told him I had a bleeding problem, I don't think he took me seriously. I called at five-thirty and told them I was bleeding. They never called back. But it is behind me now. I am enjoying my new teeth. Thank you for your kind note. Hope you are feeling well. Lynn k.j.choate@... wrote: > So glad to see your feeling better. Guest guest
Hey , We had a nice week end. The kids came over. Laurie made most of the food since I was on the couch. Things are much better now, I even got to go out for a walk today. Right now I am just a little angry at the dentist for not listening to me. , I have never seen so much blood, if he had listened it wouldn't have been so bad. Anyway I like my new smile. Guest guest
Lynn, the polident tablets or any brand are good but I do use the Dentucreme made for dentures as well. I have to confess that I am very vain and don't take my teeth out every night like you are supposed to and without doing this, it is difficult to keep them as clean as I would like. My dentist said to take them out every night and put them in water with a tablet but I also noticed the last time I was there that they sell a special cleaner, so I may pop in and see if it is something I can use to clean my teeth without the hassle of taking them out. If it is any good, I will let you know. Hugs June Re: [ ] Re: teeth OT Hi June, I love my new teeth, even if I did have a time of it. So far I am just on soup. Guest guest
Are you like my aunt with her little grandkids? She takes her teeth out and shows them. You should see the look on their faces the first time they see that! It's not that she looks bad without them, it's the idea that she tells them their teeth will fall out if they don't brush good and then she pops her teeth out! My mom had her teeth pulled last year and she also had severe bleeding. I gave her some of those blue bed pads to lay on and it was good that I did. The first week she had a mess. We were really worried. I had my son stay with her. I don't know how she made it through that. It took her quite a while to get her new teeth to fit right but she's very happy with them now. I guess your gums shrink as they heel and that probably makes it easier. Becky Re: [ ] Re: teeth OT Hi June, I love my new teeth, even if I did have a time of it. So far I am just on soup. Guest guest
My kids use one of the polident or some similar cleaning products with germ killer for their retainers. They soak them like dentures and they get really clean. I have found sometimes they need to use two tablets and hot tap water to get them really clean. I have a terrible gag reflux and to help with this, the dentist suggested Fixodent or Poligrip. This fixed the problem of gagging and makes me feel more secure about eating. I love my new smile now as I am sure you do as well. > > > > > > Hugs > > > June > > > > > >
