Guest guest
Don't sweat the ultrasound; I've had 2 and it's just uncomfortable, not painful. They put saline in the uterus via a catheter through the cervix, that part is just a bit like your normal visit to the GYN, (speculum, etc). I got a little crampy after a couple of minutes but it was over pretty quick. Not on my top 10 list of things to do for fun, but not on the 10 most yucky things either. Good luck, just keep in mind that it will give you some very valuable information (size, location, etc). Hang in there. Guest guest
Please look into Uterine Fibroid Embolization. It is a relatively new, very safe procedure I just had a week ago for my fibroids and the bleeding that is associated with them. It was fantastic. So easy, and was up and about within days--with pain medication, little or no pain!!! I've looked into every procedure for fibroids there is and this has been great!! It might be worth a look! saline ultrasound Hello to everyone and thanks so much for this group. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world with fibroids and the symptoms that are from the fibroids, but knowing you are all out there in e land has helped(especially since my symptoms are similar to some of yours). Tomorrow I'm scheduled for a saline ultrasound to see if my as yet unidentified submucous fibroid is in a place where my dr. can get at it via hysteroscopic resection. Has anyone had a saline ultrasound? I've had the regular kind of ultrasound--just wondering if it's painful or any more thrilling than the usual ultrasound. Also, last week I had an endometrial biopsy performed and have had a clear urine like discharge since the procedure was performed. Again, anyone else have this experience? With the fibroids and the discharge I feel about as sexy as a sack pf potatoes.
Guest guest
Pam, I had a saline ultrasound. And it was relatively painless. The only thing that hurt was putting this strawlike thing (very, very thin) through the cervix. To be honest I was in more pain from speculum (is that what the duck-bill thing is). After the straw was through the cervix I had absolutely no pain and the pain of the straw going through was no worse than a hard pinch. They then proceeded to do a vaginal ultrasound. Unfortunately for me, the fibroid was so large the saline could not fill the uterus enough to get a better picture In fact all they could see was the saline shooting out the fallopian tubes.
