Guest guest
Carole, what are all of the medications you on right now? What are your current diagnoses? I think you wrote earlier that you have osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, and carpal tunnel syndrome. A husky voice is a common symptom of hypothyroidism. Joint pain is also common. Osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia can also produce joint pain. I can't recommend anything very specific regarding diet. I do believe that all, regardless of the diagnosis, can benefit from giving up smoking, attempting to reach and maintain a normal weight, eating a healthy, balanced diet (lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; not too much dairy, meat, sugar, salt; very little if any processed foods or artificial fats or sweeteners), and regular exercise. Sorry that you haven't been feeling good and more things are happening. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
> Carole, what are all of the medications you on right now? **** Hi - My current diagnosess are Oteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Hypothyroidism, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Mechanical back problem and Impingement of my left shoulder. Plus high Blood Pressure. My current medication is Citaloparam 30 mg - depression. Bendrofluozide 2.5mg - Blood pressure. Co-codamol 30/500 and Arcoxia 120mg - Pain relief. Thyroxine 50 mg for Hypothyrodism. My Blood Pressure and Hypothyrodism is still being monitored, and the doses might have to be adjusted. ~~~~ > A husky voice is a common symptom of hypothyroidism. Osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia can also produce joint pain. *** I have an appointment with the ENT specialist at the end of this month, so maybe I should mention that info. to him. Also, the 6th July the Rheumatolgy Consultant, so can ask about these 2 painful fingers. Some past blood work, shown no rheumatoid factor, but a slightly raised Blood Plasma Viscosity(?) ~~~~ > I can't recommend anything very specific regarding diet. Fortunately, I have lost 4.5 stone in 7 months, but have another 5 to go :)) I do strecthing exercises each afternoon on my bed, then fall promptly to sleep LOL. Any other type of exercise seems to start things off. Thursday, I just reached out for an envelope, and I was in absolute agony, I couldn't move my left arm, without causing intense pain in my left shoulder. Thankfully the phone was beside me, and I rang my doctor, who told me to use the T shirt I was wearing to make a sling to support my arm close to my body, so I could get out of the chair! This is the second time in as many months this has happened to me! Although, it might take a day or 2 to get back full moment of my arm, any sudden movement, gives me warning twinges. There just seems to be so much going on, and I would just like some answers:) Many thanks for your advice, and I will visit those sites, you have listed. Guest guest
Carole, I hope your physicians can come up with a better treatment plan for you very soon. You can't be having much fun in such a state. Very loosely speaking, the blood plasma viscosity test is a measure of the blood " thickness " or " stickiness. " It is a non-specific measure of inflammation. " Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) This simple test measures how quickly the cells in the blood settle when they are left to stand in a tube. This reflects how much inflammation your arthritis has caused, and this measurement will improve if your arthritis improves. Some laboratories use other methods to work out the degree of inflammation, such as plasma viscosity (PV) or C-reactive protein (CRP) tests. Guest guest
Hi - would the blood plasma viscoisity, pick up any inflammation from Osteo Arthritis or only Rheumatoid? Just wondering, because the pain in my 2 fingers is different to the rest, and I wondered if the BPV would be an indication to Rheumatoid coming on? Guest guest
Carole, Unfortunately, markers of inflammation like plasma viscosity, sed rate, and CRP are not specific to any one disease or condition. And, often, small deviations from " normal " mean nothing. Generally speaking, the blood tests commonly used in diagnosis and monitoring of rheumatic diseases aren't very helpful in isolation. Some better tests are emerging, but, until then, more important in a case like yours would be the pattern of the joints involved, the nature of the pain and swelling, and results of imaging studies of your joints. Please do tell your rheumatologist that those two fingers feel different than the rest and let him try to figure it out. I'll tell you where to go!
