Guest guest
This is an excellent CME activity, Kathi. Thanks for sending it. I declare it required reading! I wish all doctors would understand this part: " Listening to the patient's story is a key component of evaluating a patient with chronic pain. If the clinician fails to listen to how the pain interferes with the patient's day-to-day function, treatment is likely to be ineffective. Moreover, the patient is likely to seek other care, including over-the-counter medications ( such as traditional analgesics to herbal supplements). Some 175 million people in the United States take such drugs daily and, importantly, they often don't think to tell their doctors because of the mistaken belief that these medications are benign.[22] Unfortunately, this practice increases the risk of drug interactions. " I'll tell you where to go!
