Guest guest
I am new here and just finishing the recruitment process for becoming a dispatcher. I am now completing the medical. To my dismay, I have just started experiencing pain in my hands. I want to be honest and tell the physician doing my medical. Do you know what happens in this case? Do they give you a few months or so to recover or does have a RSI injury disqualify you. Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated! ---------------------------------
Guest guest
In a message dated 01-03-10 14:22:48 EST, you write: << How can dispatchers continue to work with RSI " s? > By doing the right physical therapy -- as perscribed by the physical therapist, taking breaks when you are supposed to or allowed, I studied hypnosis and use some of the techniques to keep stress down, I avoid the foods that cause flareups for me and ice before it gets out of hand. I also had the surgery on both arms in 1992 - I went back to work too fast the first time -- took it VERY easy for quite a while after I went out and very little problem since. <<I am hoping that I can overcome and prevent RSI's and have a career as a Dispatcher - Is that possible? >> I don't see why not -- I think its about balance -- I watch some people I work with who will look to sit at the not so busy position because of an RSI -- and then sit there and knit or crochet the entire shift -- THAT is as repetitive as typing!
