Guest guest
One of the other factors, besides staying out of the sun 'totally', before this RA hit me hard, was I read a book 'The Beverly Hills Diet', by Judy Mazel .. A wonderful book, she is a very intelligent 'white girl' .. she was not formally educated, but just read and read and read.. Many of the other diets, ie, fit for life, etc. gleamed off of what she put together, which she put together from doctors writings over many years.. enzyme action of the body .. It totally makes sense.. depending on what you put into your body, it secretes the necessary enzymes for that food .. some foods mixed improperly, mostly meat, render the enzymes that are just doin fine digesting all of the carbs, neutral .. so the carbs turn to fat .. or are just ejected from the body .. Ever have a friend that eats like a horse and is skinny??? The latter solution is what their body does with a 'misconbination' of food.. Most of our bodies, it gets trapped, ferments and turns to fat .. Anywho .. longwinded as heck, I know, but I also relaxed on my sticking to her way of eating that I had done pretty religiously for about 20 years.. This might have allowed the RA to happen also .. I dunno .. But it it is a healthy way to eat .. Nothing is eliminated from your diet .. you just learn how to combine your foods and allow the proper amount of time for digestion of foods .. Get the book .. it's fun reading! Takereasy ! DaveF. [ ] diet Hi, I am waiting today for my second RA Factor reading but I have a bad feeling it will be quite elevated. I'll post when I know. In the meantime, I've been doing a lot of reading because if this factor is elevated, the doc is sending me on to the rheumy and I want to be informed before I get there. I'm totally educationally confused - that's what I call it. I see both sides to the pro-medicines and the pro-natural treatments. I agree = everyone has to do what they can do for their own bodies. I also see that sometimes meds and the risk they bring are worth it if it means you can actually enjoy life now. My husband is urging me to really look deep into the natural side of things and so far the main thing I've come up with is just what a said - change of diet. I'm sure you all have read all the books too. It's a confusing place to be and one I never ever dreamed I'd find myself in. I'm grateful for all of you here, Kath If you find a way for our body to heal itself, please share. I¹ve tried so many things in my 25+ years with this disease. Eliminating meat and dairy were beneficial to me. Wheat allergy is known to cause joint pain that mimics RA, so some have gone on a wheat free diet. It is very difficult since wheat is hidden in so many foods. Fasting has been known to alleviate RA symptoms and that is why it is thought there could be a connection between RA and food. I¹ve read so many theories, tried so many of them, but only my Enbrel has been truly helpful. I started it shortly after it was approved in 98, and am lucky to have had no problems. All the DMARDs have potential side effects and yes, they scare me. But I¹ve lost to many joints to risk loosing more. Everyone has to make the choice of what risks they are willing to take. a
