Guest guest
Raynajay, We have several male members here who have children. I don't know whether they had difficulty, but I haven't read that male infertility is associated with rheumatoid arthritis. On the other hand, I have read about sulfasalazine and prednisone and their relationship to male infertility. Prednisone could be the problem or part of it: " Sometimes glucocorticoid excess (prednisone usage) is exogenous in the therapy of ulcerative colitis, asthma, or rheumatoid arthritis. The result is decreased spermatogenesis. The elevated plasma cortisone levels depress LH secretion and can cause secondary testicular dysfunction. Correction of the glucocorticoid excess results in improvement in spermatogenesis. Hyper and hypothyroidism can alter spermatogenesis. Hyperthyroidism effects both pituitary and testicular function with alterations in the secretion of releasing hormones and increased conversion of androgens to estrogens.
