Guest guest
For those of you who looking for Balance and Fall Prevention ideas without spending the 59.00 (which goes to a wonderful organization and I have seen the balance kits and they are very nice), please check out the falling website: www.temple.edu/older_adult. It is a wonderful website put together by Temple University and Dr. a Newton who has been researching fall prevention since October of 1997 as part of Grant she received. She has some wonderful brochures, videos and how to do a Fall Prevention Program. I have used some of her material to do presentations to stroke support groups, PT groups, etc. Our district just did a month''s worth of balance screens to promote preventing falls in the elderly. We developed brochures, screening forms, etc. Please send me a separated message if you would like more information. Guest guest
I did not realize that there was such a desire for therapists to get information on balance and falls. For those of you who have sent me a personal email with an address, I will try to send you what you requested. For those of you who were sending generic messages to send articles on balance and falls, you will have to wait. I recently became unemployed and am pursuing jobs at this time. Therefore, I do not have access to a copy machine and cannot reproduce the information you are all requesting. As an active member of my district and state association, I am working to put a package together which will be available to all of you. Don't worry, we will make the cost reasonable as we want to get the information out to as many people as possible. We will get the information out to the state chapter as the PT Manager is not the place to try to sell items but to disseminate information. I am excited that there are so many people interested in preventing falls in the elderly. Sincerely, Kim Longoria, PT Specializing in Geriatric Rehabilitation and Fall Prevention San , TX
