Guest guest
WEll, today was not a good day. Was feeling yucky all day. Checked my blood sugar tonight and it was 268! The highest it's ever been. It's been climbing since last week. Not sure why. Same diet. Will call the doctor tommorow. --- Jane wrote: > Hi Janet; > > At the diabetes education course I took (in Canada) > they said " between four and eight...feeling great. Guest guest
had a broiled chicken sandwich from Burger king. They have giant buns so I tried to guess how much of it was 3 carbs(the minimum my dietician wants me to go a meal), and I threw away the rest. >> Do you mean 3 grams of carbs, or 3 bread exchanges (45 grams) under the ADA diet exchange? If you were aiming for three grams, you'd have to throw away basically all the bun - each BK Broiler has 52 grams of carbohydrate, most of that comes from the bun. Guest guest
Debbie- this is more carbs (40+) than I have in a whole day. Check the light miracle whip- I bet it has sugar. I used to have that same pounding heart beat just two months ago- dx at 275bgs. I was on Glucophage but went off it a week ago. With the low carbs I can keep my bg's at 79 to about 119. Today I ate a slice of bread (11 carbs) with peanut butter(5 carbs) and went up to 151. So I guess I can choose to eat more carbs and take meds or less and take no meds. Right now I don't mind the low carb diet but I have heard of some people being able to take Starlix (I think???) before they eat to control the spikes. That sort of interests me in the event I want to eat a few more carbs. However, right now I am also trying to lose 35 lbs and the low carb seems to take the weight off for me. <<had lunch. Salad, with tuna and a little light miracle whip, 1 piece of ww bread(14 carbs), and a granola bar,(21 carbs. This is low compared to what I usually have for lunch. An hour later I was walking my stairs, and, wow! My heart was beating so fast I could hear it in my ears! and I felt fuzzy and a little disoriented. I took my reading right away and 191! So I called and talked to a nurse, and they are adding Amaryl (1 2mg dose) in the morning to my meds. I feel so frustrated, and scared I'm heading towards insulin. Dang, I feel like a walking drug store! Sorry, but I really don't want to go there, but if I need to it will be okay. I just feel so helpless. I'm so glad I have this group, I would feel very alone if it wasn't for knowing you guys are out there to listen to me today. Thank you for being here. and thank you for this list, . Love, Debbie in WVC>>
