Guest guest
Our department, Sacramento Police Department, requires all Dispatchers to wear specified uniforms---we even have a multi-paged General Order specifying type of pants, shirts, etc.. And we can only purchase our uniforms from uniform stores (no navy blue pants from K-mart and Target).....Currently we are wearing navy blue pants, lt blue shirts, w/name tags and badges.. Starting on July 1, 2001, we will be going back to Police patches on shirts with a 'communications' rocker over the patch (yes, we will pay extra for both and for the sewing on of both)...Our General Orders even go so far as to tell us the color of socks, shoes, panty hose (if wearing a skirt) as well as type and amount/type of jewelry we can wear.... For this, the City of Sacramento, pays each Dispatcher $24.00 a month---to cover the uniform, the upkeep of uniform, and replacement of uniform.....And yes, we are in a fenced in, locked in facility, never seen by the public unless they come thru on a tour.... I do find it easy to dress for work, no question about whether my jeans are becoming a little ratty or is my shirt too casual, I just put the same outfit (clean of course) on, day after day/ shift after shift.....I have no idea why the 'Uniform Committee' opted back to patches, but I'm waiting for last minute to buy new clothes (yeah, will involve overtime!) Well, I got that off my chest Thanks.. Combs
