Guest guest
Welcome . Hopefully as your body adjusts to the plaquenil, the side effects will go away. Everyone is different and tolerates meds differently. It takes about 3 months for plaquenil to be effective. You can read more abou plaquenil and other RA meds at a website that I made for our group: http://rheumatoid.arthritis.freehosting.net/drugs.html#plaquenil There are many members here that don¹t have a firm diagnoses. Hopefully your doctor is trying to find out what is going on so that you can be properly treated. RA and lupus together are very rare. What is going on with your liver? Do you have other family members with autoimmune diseases? Of course you don¹t have to answer if you don¹t want to. a > My name is , I am 38 years old (as of yesterday!) Guest guest
, Welcome, I am sorry to hear that you have RA but you came to the right place for support and answers. I don't know about plaquenil as never having been on it. I do know that for myself prednizone never worked. I know too that the drugs that have worked took some time getting into my system and easing my pain. I take MTX - 15mg a week. It scared the death out of me when they first put me on it because it is a chemotherapy drug. Some of my hair fell out and my fingernails are all short now because they constantly split but it helped reduce the achiness. I take Lortab for the real bad pain days and I take skellaxin for the mild ones. I take Remicade once every 8 weeks. I am afraid to stop it although it doesn't reduce any pain anymore. It did in the beginning but so far my RA has not caused any nodules or deformities or any more damage to my bones so I will stay on it. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you will find the right combination of prescriptions soon. One thing I did was change my diet too. I bought the Zone diet book and read about what combinations of foods you needed. Right now I am doing the South beach diet and it is doing okay. I need to get strictly back on it and will but my vacation stymied it for a time...but I have faith that i will get back on it God bless, Althea

Guest guest
Welcome to the group, ! What do you mean by SS (since it can mean several things)? Have you called your physician and told him/her that you are having trouble tolerating the Plaquenil? I'll tell you where to go! Mayo Clinic in Rochester http://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester s Hopkins Medicine http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org [ ] Hello from another newbie > My name is , I am 38 years old (as of yesterday!) Guest guest
The more the merrier and the more info input Welcome Kathy M crestlinelady <silvereyes2@...> wrote: Greetings! I'm another newbie coming to introduce myself. ) I went on the blood type diet a few years back to get my fibromyalgia under control and have been on it ever since. I work with a naturopathic practitioner (ND) and am studying to be one myself. We recommend the blood type diet to all of our patients. I'm very pleased to find this group. I've been cheating a little bit lately and need the encouragement to stick to healthier eating even when I'm at work and have little time for lunch. After reading through the messages here, I think I will just wake up a little bit earlier and make a good lunch for my daughter and I before heading off to the clinic. Besides, I need to set a good example for our clients, right? It's nice to meet such a great group of people. ) Kathy R.
