I don't personally have the same things you're going through but I do have my share of pain and frustration. This is a great group. Stick around! Guest guest
Hi. My name is Sheri and I have had arthritis since I was 7. It lasted about 6 months at that time and then went into remission until age 21. The only time it went away again was when I was pregnant - so twice. I have 2 boys ages 7 and 4 1/2. Very active, very exhausting. Its hard to keep up with all their activity. I'm on Methotrexate, Planquinel, folic acid, Lexapro, and Nexium. Still very exhausted, no energy to do anything. I go back to my rheumatologist in a couple weeks and I'm going to talk to him about Enbrel. I'm also going to talk to him about the depression. Lexapro doesn't seem to be helping anymore. I work full-time as a medical receptionist. Three doctors - Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. When you WORK for a doctor, you get absolutely no sympathy from them so they don't understand how the stress effects the arthritis. I would like to make friends. Thanks for listening. Guest guest
Welcome Sheri. Welcome to our group. Working full time and taking care of 2 very active boys is enough to cause exhaustion in a healthy person. I don¹t know how you can do it. I raised 2 children while having RA, but I couldn¹t work outside the home. I¹m on Enbrel and it has helped a lot. I hope your doctor will consider adding it to the mtx. The combination of enbrel and mtx have been having great results. a > Hi. My name is Sheri and I have had arthritis since I was 7. Guest guest
Hi Sheri, Stress and lack of sleep seem to play such havoc on our systems, don't they? And working such stressful jobs, as well as being a mom doesn't help. Your children are so young - bless your heart - I am lucky - my youngest is turning 9 so at least they all sleep through the night! Good luck to you! in CA --- In , " sheri02cats " <sheri02cats@y...> wrote: > Hi. My name is Sheri and I have had arthritis since I was 7. Guest guest
Sheri, Hi, I'm new here too. Like you I was in remission when my daughter was born. Congrats on keeping up with 2 healthy boys and a job! I had to go on disability about 11 years ago. Having enough energy is tough; you have to figure out which activities are most important and let everything else slide. Enbrel didn't really work for me but my rheumatologist says it works for about 80% of her patients so maybe you'll be in that group! I'm currently taking Humira and hopeful that it will start working. The best thing that's happened to me in a while is bilateral knee replacements in December of last year. I feel so much better; it doesn't hurt to walk across my house anymore. Depression is a real battle for me as well esp. during my period. Does your arthritis flare more as your hormone levels fluctuate? Mine does. Paxil worked well for me but I finally stopped taking anothing, just depending on the Lord to guide me one day at a time. Welcome to the board! sheri02cats <sheri02cats@...> wrote: Hi. My name is Sheri and I have had arthritis since I was 7. Guest guest
Hi , My 9 year old daughter has been battling uveitis for 4 years now. Her uveitis was under treated for the first two years. Where do you live? Does your daughter see an ocular immunologist or uveitis specialist? My daughter started with pars planitis, but it has now progressed to panuveitis. Finding a dr. who will aggressively treat uveitis is so important. If you have any questions, please ask. Guest guest
Hi . There are several of us on the board who have Uveitis problems. My daughter who is 3 1/2 has has chronic uveitis. She is currently on Methortrexate, Cyclosporine, and Pred Forte Eye drops fives times a day in an effort to control it. Right now she is doing fairly well on this regimine. She is down to trace cells in each eye - the best we have been in almost two years. What is she on for her Uveitis? Guest guest
Hi, . Welcome. You will find lots of info here. You have had some great answers already, and I just wanted to add that yes, you can have pain without swelling. My son did not always have swelling that was noticeable. The rheumy would be able to feel some perhaps, but to our eyes and touch there was no swelling. I hope things are better soon, Michele (18, spondy) new to support group Hi Everyone, My name is and my soon to be three yr old has pauci/uveitis. Guest guest
Hi I'm Jenn and I've had RA since 98-99 when I was diagnosed. I'm 32 now....got 4 kids, 2 step kids and a hubby at home. I can't really work anymore and its really affecting our finances..I am on plaquenil since cheapest drug and on medical. Anyone else know a better med that is not very expensive? I'd love to be on something that works better so I dont feel so lost and tired. Plus, I don't like it and the side effects are horrible. Anyways, I have been really alone with this disease and hope to make a lot of friends here who understand how it is to live with RA. I love rock 'n roll, singing, reading, watching General Hospital, Law & Order (all of them), reruns of Roseanne and Commander in Chief. Well that's me the short version. Hope we all chat enough that you learn the long version LOL... Thanks, Jenn [ ] Re: Bobby Hello Bobby, Thanks for writing; it was interesting to get the perspective of a spouse. I know my husband has felt the same way you do at times. You certainly have a right to your feelings. Your wife's " how dare you " remark is sad. She needs to be compassionate too, because the reality is that the illness affects both of your lives. I hope you can find a way to balance being with her and pursuing your interests. I always give my husband the green light for going places and doing things without me. He needs a lot of activity and gets bored around the house. Good luck to you and your wife.
