Guest guest
I was a lefty all last summer after having a surgery on my (dominant) right hand, then when the cast was off, the pins removed, and still in a hard splint, the fused bone broke. I had a second surgery and that time the pins were left in a full 8 wks, twice as long as a " normal " person. I managed to do quite a lot left-handed but life was not easy. I watched a lot of movies! After I realized I was not getting enough exercise I began a walking program, about 30 min per day, and by the 3rd or 4th day I was falling once or twice, once right onto the cast. Luckily it was ok, but I did break a rib and hurt my elbow, hip, etc. I ended up needing a change to my orthopedic shoes for the ankle instability. Gardening was the easiest, and most enjoyable part of all this. A couple of friends lent me a hand with weeding and transplanting, and a neighbor helped cutting the grass. Meeting toileting needs was the most difficult task, and no one offered to help me ;-)) al-righty now, Joanne
Guest guest
Hi Judy, I suggest going really slow and let me know when you are leaving the house...LOL. I too have that problem due to herniated discs with lack of range of movement and I usually have to shift my entire trunk from the waist.
