The problem I see is with this definition is that the average person would not

understand. This is a clinical definition and might I say most MDs would not

even understand the great abilities of the RD or the RD's services from this

message and much less a lay person. Psychiatrists have always used analogy and

found this is the best way to help people understand.

Hi Everyone, I get this question all the time. Since most people only want a

sound bite answer or something that takes about a minute to explain....I

usually tell them that we are more like doctors than any other healthcare

professional and we review their health/medical/ nutritional history, look

at current blood work, medications, symptoms that may be affecting their

nutritional status and prescribe a meal/nutrition/ supplement plan that is

best for them, factoring in all their needs, wants and budget. Just wanted

some other great ideas from this great group.
