Guest guest
Wine gums These are fruit-flavoured, tough, chewy, translucent sweets which have been in production in the UK since 1909. Although they contain no wine (or alcohol) whatever, and were invented by the son of a strict teetotaller, they have the names of various wines, from " CLARET " to " CHAMPAGNE " embossed on them. The question is: why were they ever called " wine gums " in the first place? http://www.wordwizard.com/clubhouse/founddiscuss1.asp?Num=5944 Maynards Wine Gums: http://www.britishdelights.com/images/c42.JPG I'll tell you where to go!
