Please join your colleagues or fellow students in exploring “Child Nutrition and

Kid Cuisine” given by Jodie Shield, MEd, RD, and Chef Liz Isaacs on Tuesday, May

27, 2008at Loyola University Chicago - Rubloff Reception Room.  Networking will

start at 6:00 PM with presentations beginning at 6:30 PM.

Jodie will share the top trends in child nutrition and the opportunities and

solutions that these trends present.  Liz will discuss creative menu and kitchen

solutions to engage parents and kids through a lively cooking demonstration.

Copies of recipes and samples will be handed out, and opportunities to take home

a copy of one of Jodie’s new or recent child nutrition books.

About the Speakers:

Jodie Shield, MED, RD, has been a consultant and spokesperson in the field of

nutrition for over two decades. A former national media spokesperson for the

American Dietetic Association (1989-1995), she has worked extensively with the

Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center and taught nutrition and medical

dietetics at the University of Illinois . Currently she is a complemental

faculty member of the College of Health Sciences in the Department of Clinical

Nutrition at Rush University in Chicago . Shield is Senior Partner at JM &

Associates, Inc., a nutrition communications firm. She has developed numerous

consumer education materials and programs, participated in new product ideation

sessions, evaluated recipe contests and provided strategic counsel to a roster

of blue chip clients. Shield is co-author of the American Dietetic Association's

Guide to Healthy Eating For Kids ( Wiley and Sons, 2002) and Childhood and

Adolescent Overweight: A Health

Professional's Guide To Identification, Treatment, and Prevention (American

Dietetic Association, 2003). Additionally, Shield has authored over 500 articles

for consumer magazines, professional journals and online articles. In 1998 she

was selected " Outstanding Dietitian of the Year " by both the Illinois Dietetic

Association and the Chicago Dietetic Association.  

Growing up in New York City , Liz Isaacs dined out often and developed a taste

for good food at an early age. She went to Boston University and earned her

degree in Hospitality Administration, and then earned a culinary degree from the

prestigious Culinary Institute of America. She then went on to apprentice at

Food and Wine Magazine; The Food Network television program; and the Tavern on

the Green restaurant in New York City . Liz then moved to Chicago to set up and

run the culinary program for the newly opened Sur La Table anchor store in

Chicago , where she helped to develop culinary content and a corporate-wide

training program for their nationwide chain of stores. Shortly after the birth

of her first child, Liz began to recognize the need for more regional

child-focused programming and menu development. After the birth of her second

child, Liz founded Kiddy Cuisine with t Greene to teach children

self-assurance through cookery and fun, and to

teach parents to enjoy cooking with their families.

Street, Chicago , IL 60611 .

Parking is available in the25 E. Pearson parking lot. It is located a half a

block east (towards the lake), directly across from the Towers building,

which is located at 820 N. Michigan Avenue .

The meeting is free for ChicagoNutrition Association Members and costs $10 for

non-members.  Membership can be obtained the day of the session for a fee of $30

for the entire year.  Meeting and/or membership renewal fees will be collected

at the door prior to the start of the session.  Exact amount is appreciated.
