Guest guest
Hi everyone, welcome to all our new members. My absence from posting had to do with a family wedding plus 3 of my grandsons' graduated this year and hence lots of family celebrations. Of course, I overdid it and have paid the price of 3 days in bed on and off. Largest reason, our wonderful girl(13yr old dog) became very ill and can barely move. The time has come when we have to let her go and this is tearing me apart. We have tried everything to get her protein levels up but to no avail. She has no strength and Don has to carry her from one place to another. My eldest grandson stayed here for a few days and cut the grass etc. so we could stay with . He sat on the floor and hand fed her tiny bits of roast beef and spoonfuls of ice cream and as weak as she is, now that has gone home, she let us know she expected us to do all the things was doing for her, which of course, we do. I realize that people who are not animal lovers, don't understand what we are going through but I know also there are more of you like a that are well aware of the heartbreak of saying goodbye to our furry friends. Guest guest
Hi June. I am so sorry to hear about your dog. It is very touching that you are doing all you can to make her comfortable at this point. It is understandable that you are so very sad as our pets are family to us. The unconditional love, affection and companionship they offer us is so beautiful; it is kind and selfless of you to give her so much even when you are not feeling well. There is obviously a lot of love there. I wish you strength and good health. - Sharon [ ] update - June Hi everyone, welcome to all our new members. Guest guest
Dear June, I am so sorry for all the problems you are having. We get so attached to our furry friends, it is like losing a family member. Actually we are losing a family member, they become a part of us. I will be thinking about you at this time. :Lynn (MeMom) June Dixon wrote: > Hi everyone, welcome to all our new members. Guest guest
June my heart is breaking for you and I'm sending many prayers your way. I would be devastated if anything happened to my furry bundle, my dog Buddy. I fall apart even when he's sick. I would be doing exactly as you are. You take care of her as best you can and let God take care of the rest. Darlene > Hi everyone, welcome to all our new members. Guest guest
June I am an animal lover and know exactly what you are going through. We had to put down our Chrissy 7 years ago and it was just heart wrenching. It took a while but we do remember her always. I think Christmas has been the hardest because she would have as much fun watching up open gifts as we did. She would stand right there and watch every gift that was opened and when she saw what was inside, she would wag her tail as if it was for her. Every Christmas we hang her collar, her pic and her squeak toy on the tree. We have a Yorkie who will be 15 human years next month. Her name is Mimi but we call her Mimi Girl. She is crippled with arthritis and has a lot of food allergies. She is going blind and is loosing her hearing. She also has memory problems. So far, she still knows who we are. I have to make most of her food. We have to help her go up and down stairs and pretty much pamper her to death. If she isn't on the couch she still comes and greets us when we come in the house and just as happy to see us as when she was a pup. Yes, even if it to just get the mail. LOL She has been such a good family member to us that we would do anything for her. We know there will be the time when we have to say goodbye. As with Chrissy, we won't prolong it. When she stops wagging her tail, or decides food isn't her thing any more (she is such a food lover, LOL) we will let her go. Just thinking about it, makes me cry, but I would never want her to stay with us if she was unhappy. I know you will decide when the right time is for your girl. I know it will be hard. Blessings to you for keeping such good care of your furry friend. Special hugs in Ct.

Guest guest
Hi June, I am sorry about your furry friend girl, I know how you feel. It's the most difficult time in a pet owner's life. My lab passed almost 2 years ago, and it still hurts so much. He was 14 when he left me, and I still wasn't ready for him to go. I rescued another lab later on, and he is great, and it helps me to know I'm helping another furry friend. I will be thinking of you, and keeping you in my prayers, Tawny > Hi everyone, welcome to all our new members. Guest guest
June- You and your family and are in my prayers. I have two beautful little kitties who are the light of my life and I remember hand feeding my mom's cocker baby food before we finally let him go. I can empathize with your situation. Have been offline myself. My two kitties have actually spent the weekend keeping me company and taking care of me. They must sense something wrong cause they have been right next to me all weekend- despite the heat. I developed of all things cellulitis at the end of last week- ended up in the ER with a swollen bright red right calf, fever and pain on Friday night ( of course). Fortunately it was not another blood clot ( did a miserable - have no idea how I developed the infection- but slowly but surely it is resolving itself. Less red, fever is gone, itching and pain getting better. Just have to pace myself and keep leg elevated. Enough. Hang in there. Keep us posted. We understand. Guest guest
June- Thanks for the update. Of course he's taking care of you - he loves and you are great! Hope you can get to the source of this and it can be remedied in the least invasive way possible. You are held in my prayers in a special way - with as our Debs would say, with warm gentle hugs. > Well, I had my appt with the neuro today and it is confirmed that I have an > unstable spine.
