Guest guest
Sounds like strep to me. Parents always tell me it's a " virus " and the kids that can talk will tell me they are taking antibiotics and they weren't supposed to tell me! Becky [ ] infections or sickness I have heard that when on certain medicines for RA you are more exceptable to certain illnesses. Is this true. I work in a daycare and usually don't get sick. But I have noticed since yesterday that my throat is very sore and I have had two kids with sore throats caused by viruses. Is this something I should be concerned about. All of the DMARDs work by suppressing an overactive immune system. What are you taking? If you're concerned, I would discuss the issue with the doctor. It's normal to get sick sometimes, RA or not... Guest guest
My rheumy and my PCP tell me that the medications I am on make your body more likely to have longer illnesses and take longer to heal. To the best of my knowledge (I am not a medical professional) the whole point is that our's is an autoimmune disease and the medications help suppress an overactive immune system so when we get a bug the things that normally fight it are being suppressed so it just takes a little longer. I would ask your doc though. Cat > I have heard that when on certain medicines for RA you are more > exceptable to certain illnesses.
