Guest guest
I'd love to get some thoughts and advice! I have a client, first pregnancy, carrying twins. She was worried because she was so hungry all the time she couldn't sleep at night. She had gained a good deal more than expected (15 lbs in the first trimester) but was unsure about her pre-preg wt. We discussed ways to make her meals more calorically dense, but I was concerned and recommended exploring it further with her doctor to make sure there wasn't an underlying additional issue causing the hunger. The mom, her mom and husband all insisted it was just about not eating enough and that when she ate enough, she felt better. It's a month later, she's increased her intake greatly and is gaining about 2 lbs a week (2nd trimester, so more than expected) and is well above her target wt and reports that when she tries to cut back, she's again up all night starving. Granted, this is only my 3rd or 4th time working with a mom carrying twins, but I haven't seen anything like it with single pregnancies, and I'm concerned. Thoughts? Thanks so much, Cheryl
