Guest guest
Hi Rae, At last count, I probably had more than 400 tumors, ranging in size from a grain of rice to a grapefruit. Most of them hurt, some without even touching them--sort of like a beesting. I bruise easily, especially if one of the lipomas is bumped, and it doesn't take a hard bump, even my cat walking across my lap can do it. If you want to learn more, you can go to www.dercumshope.org, or log in to the Dercum's support group on . There is also a great article on eMed: http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic839.htm Also: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/1209.htm Those of us who have been diagnosed with Dercum's really believe that it isn't as rare as we have been led to believe--that many people have the disease but doctors just aren't aware of it. Even now some doctors will say " lipomas don't hurt " but we know different. Any time you want to talk more, feel free to email me. Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving!
